“Agung Laksono Gagal Capai Syarat Ketua PMI, JK: Hanya Dapat 5%”

Jusuf Kalla in his capacity as the Chairman of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) stated that Agung Laksono failed to meet the requirements to run for the position of PMI Chairman. According to Kalla, Agung did not meet the qualifications outlined in the PMI’s Articles of Association. The requirements for potential candidates for the Chairman position are specified in the Procedure for Electing Board Members, where it is stated that a potential candidate must have the support of at least 20% of the organizing committee members. Additionally, the candidate must also be endorsed by 20% of the authorized delegates present at the meeting. Despite initially garnering 50 votes, it was found that 15 of those votes were invalid, leaving Agung with only 30 valid votes – falling short of the necessary 20%. Kalla emphasized that anyone can become the PMI Chairman as long as they follow the existing rules, but in Agung’s case, he only received 5% support, far from the required threshold. Consequently, Kalla expressed his nonchalance towards the emergence of a new PMI leadership under Agung Laksono, stating that he does not have any issues with those who may be dissatisfied with the re-election of the PMI under his leadership.
