Prabowo Decision: Halts SOE Commissioner Bonuses and Impacts on People

President Prabowo Subianto has underlined his dedication to reforming Indonesia’s state-owned enterprises (SOEs) by discontinuing the practice of granting bonuses, known as tantiem, to SOE commissioners. Speaking at the Apkasi Otonomi Expo 2025 in Tangerang, Prabowo highlighted the mismanagement of SOE assets over the years. By centralizing these assets under Danantara, Indonesia now boasts a significant global financial presence, ranking fifth in sovereign funds worldwide. However, Prabowo criticized the awarding of bonuses to SOE commissioners, especially during periods of company losses, deeming it inherently unjust. He emphasized the importance of eliminating these bonuses as part of a broader reform initiative aimed at fostering integrity and professionalism within state-owned enterprises. Prabowo firmly stated that individuals who oppose these reforms are unwelcome, as there are numerous young talents eager to assume these responsibilities.
